New Icelandic fishing bill ready for parliamentary debate

Both of Iceland’s ruling coalition parties voted to pass the government’s new fisheries bill at their meetings yesterday. The bill will therefore be put to Alþingi for debate later this week.

Iceland and Faroe Islands threatened over mackerel dispute with EU

The EU plans to bring forward its decision on sanctions against Iceland and the Faroe Islands over the ongoing mackerel dispute. Irish officials say it will be difficult to discuss fishing in Iceland’s accession talks before the dispute is resolved.

Capelin fishing off Iceland “going extremely well”

Iceland ‘mackerel war’ negotiations end in failure

First food powered fishing ship makes successful trial in Iceland

Björgólfur EA 312, an Icelandic freezing trawler, returned to its home port of Dalvík this week after a trip propelled by Icelandic-made fuel, called Lífsdísill (life diesel) – made from fats and oils wasted in food production.
