Swedish model Elin Nordegren has divorced Tiger Woods, claiming their marriage was “irretrievably broken” following a string of scandals about the golfer’s infidelity. The founder of Wikileaks has revealed that he is to submit an application for a Swedish publishing licence. Julian Assange wants the utgivingsbevis in order to guarantee that the controversial website is covered by the country’s whistleblower protection laws. According to some legal experts, the organisation, which publishes secret leaked documents without revealing its sources, may not be covered by the press protection legislation unless it obtains a licence. A Hell’s Angels leader has been ordered to pay back more than a million kronor in sickness benefits, after the Swedish Social Insurance Agency claimed he committed crimes that would have been impossible with his purported back pain. Kent Nilsson, who is a self-confessed Hell’s Angels chief from Lulea, northern Sweden, has received SEK 1.4 million (USD 200,000) in handouts since first reporting his back trouble to authorities in 1998. Jailbirds at a prison in northern Sweden are threatening to strike, after authorities moved a 78 year-old incontinent man onto their block. According to a report by news programme TV4 Nyheterna Umea, the inmates at Sorby Prison were less than impressed when the man, who walks with a frame and wears an adult nappy and a catheter, was introduced as their new neighbour. The say the frail pensioner requires specialist care and should not be housed at the facility. Read the full story
