Icelandic fish exporter Tros sold

One of Iceland’s largest exporters of fresh fish by air to the UK and US has been sold to another Icelandic seafood company.

Iceland Seafood International (ISI) sold Tros Ltd to K&G Fiskverkun for an undisclosed sum.

Tros is one of the leading suppliers of fresh fish from Iceland and specialises in processing fresh fish fillets for shipment by air to the US and Europe. The company owns and operates a processing and packing facility in Sandgerdi, which is near Keflavik International Airport.

In a statement earlier this week, K&G Fiskverkun said that Tros would continue its processing operations and in the buying and exporting of fresh seafood. Tros employees would be relocated to ISI headquaters in Reykjavik.

Icelandic seafood companies have been undergone a number of changes this year with companies exchanging, buying and selling off parts of their operations.

Tros Ltd was founded in Iceland in 1977 and has been an industry leader in the export of quality fish to Britain, much of which has been sent to Humber fish processors. The company was one of the first to export fresh fish in ocean freight containers and later developed a successful system of shipping fresh fish by air.
