Sigur Ros to work with Smashing Pumpkins producer

The producer of the popular North American band, The Smashing Pumpkins, will be working together with Sigur Ros in order to produce a new album together.

Producer Flood will be helping Sigur Ros to record their fifth studio LP in a house in downtown Reykjavik. According to band member Orri Pall Dyrason, the band have already started working on tracks for the new album which has a tentative release date of late 2008.

When Dyrason spoke with local Frettabladid newspaper, he said: “We don’t know where we’re heading yet. At the moment we only have song ideas, which always end up changing once we begin recording them.”

Icelandic band Sigur Ros recently released a DVD entitled ‘Heima’ and a double CD of electric and acoustic tracks called ‘Hvarf/Heim.’
