After the Danish tabloid newspaper Ekstra Bladet rummaged through Liberal Environment Minister Karen Ellman’s dustbin last week, Young Liberals have promised to dump their rubbish at the tabloid’s premises in revenge.
Jakob Engel Schmidt, Chairman of the Young Liberal group, is annoyed by the invasion of the sensationalist story seeking tabloid, who was searching for non-recycled rubbish, and has said he will be dumping his rubbish outside Ekstra Bladet.
The Danish tabloid newspaper claims it found batteries, plastic bottles and fuses but has consequently been reported to police for invasion of ministerial privacy.
According to Politiken, journalists at Ekstra Bladet will soon be able to rummage through piles of Young Liberal rubbish conveniently dumped outside their office without even having to leave their place of work. Additionally, Engel Schmidt has gone one step further by encouraging all Copenhageners to use the Ekstra Bladet premises as an unofficial dumping ground.
“It is unfortunate that the political debate has sunk to this sort of level. I can fully understand that a journalist sometimes has to do things in order to expose people in power – but to break the law to expose two batteries and a lightbulb in the minister’s dustbin is not something that can justify these methods,” commented Engel Schmidt.
Engel Schmidt is hoping Ekstra Bladet will see the comedy in the situation and has invited the editor to debate the issue publicly.
My impression of Icelanders is that they are rugged, self-sufficient individualists who are used to making their own way in the world and that even though there are some hardships, they will find a way out of it.
Denmark is no place for you. Anyone with ambition, brains, drive and any sense of individualism should stay away from DK.
The only way to suceed here is to either make sure you own nothing, have no career ambitions and would like to live on full welfare in a government sponsored ghetto. The government will be happy to have some Icelanders in ghettos to dilute the density of non-ethnic Danes.
If you’re interested, send a message to Helle Thorning-Schmidt and Willy Sovndal that you would love to come to DK, live on the social register and vote the red block. Make sure that you tell them that you have no self-respect, pride and love living on the charity of anyone foolish enough to work. To top if off, tell them that you think that owning an automobile is egotistical and that you would never think of anything so ecologically incorrect.
I would not be surprised if a few thousand Icelanders would migrate to Norway, Australia and Canada in 2011, some how Denmark is not popular amongst Icelanders who want to move abroad,
There are alot of big issues coming up now, like rewriting the constitution or defending the current one, the icesave matter with all the political and finacial twists, the current government is not likely to survive the winter, so elections will probably be held 2011,
the IMF and the gov continue to squeeze the general population and all the money it bleedes is given to the “rich” to ease theyr debts, so the dont have to use their own money from tax havens,
there is plenty of explosives material, the new years fireworks display will kick off one hell of a year in Iceland and set the tone for the rest of the year.
Not everyone will be able to stay in Iceland becuse of finacial problems, as many are being bankrupted or have lost their jobs, i suspect most of them will be moving to Norway.
