STORM WARNING TODAY

The Icelandic Met Office warns of a storm today with northern winds 15 – 23 m/s (meters per second) on average and gales are expected to be much stronger. There wind speed is already up to 40m/s in Snæfellsnes peninsula. People are advised to stay inside and schools are closed in many places. Considerable snow will fall in the north and east, and hail in the south. Temperatures will likely go below zero in the south. Later today the wind will pick up in the south and there is a storm warning. People are advised not to travel with out proper consideration. Road conditions can be monitored here and people are advised to consult the Met office. The weather is expected to be a little calmer tomorrow, but still with strong winds.
