The royal court of Sweden today announced that Her Royal Highness Princess Madeleine Therese Amelie Josephine has become engaged to Jonas Bergstrom, according to a press release issued by the royal court. The two have been a couple for almost eight years and it is believed that the reason that they have not been engaged before is that it would have been considered inappropriate for the princess to be engaged before her older sister, Crown Princess Victoria. Crown Princess Victoria confirmed her engagement to Daniel Westling in February.
According to the Swedish constitution, any engagement of a member of the royal family needs the approval of the government. Dagens Nyheter reports that the government, after an unscheduled government assembly, today decided to approve the engagement and wish the young couple the best of luck.
Princess Madeleine (27) is the Duchess of Halsingland and Gastrikland. She has a university degree in Fine Arts, Ethnology and Modern History. Jonas Bergstrom (30) works as an Associate Lawyer with a law firm in Stockholm.

To those who don’t know, my country is struggling. The economic problems, like yours are huge. But the biggest threat to the Republic is the propaganda. The news no longer even resembles what passed for journalism in earlier times…anyone who does not immerse themselves in it daily is quickly shocked by what they see on it. Myriad channels and outlets pretending to be different, but all controlled by the same group…complete with controlled opposition (FOX). Unvarnished, grotesque, ham-fisted propaganda. Designed to whip the peasants into a loving adulation and unquestioning obedience for the current master. Designed to ignore and distract from the real issues and the man behind the curtain. Designed to condition the peasant to have contempt for the only thing that stands between them and slavery – the Constitution. They have even come up with a plethora of labels to use upon those who will not submit, such that they can be dehumanized. Birther, truther, extremist, fringe, radical, racist…the list goes on and on. Mocking is their favorite tactic. Doesn’t this sound familiar?
The world had best beware. Something major is happening here that will affect everyone.

Was that satire or hypocricy? The worshipful adulation shown by a fawning press and sheople towards Obama is what’s truly obscene. Can we please lose the notion that some of us are more noble by virtue of birth. It’s an obscene notion notwithstanding the tourist dollars or the fact that some “royals” do some charitable work.
Crown Princess Victoria visited Iceland few years ago and did not show any sharp mind. Let’s hope Princess Madeleine can perform better. It is not that bad that Iceland is a republic.
