Reykjavik, Iceland Today at 11:00 GMT, the Icelandic Parliament voted on the Icesave deal. 62 Members of Parliament took part in the vote. The end result is that they have approved the Icesave deal. Some parliament members decided to voice their reason behind their vote before they initiated their vote. The following is a list of which members of parliament voted and how they voted.

As a Dutch national it shames me to see how Dutch individual greed and money hunger combined with a total ignorance of international structures and finance, has been bundled by some of Hollands most perverse politicians in order to use it as a tool for blackmailing Iceland into paying for Dutch peoples lack of understanding and non existent self-reliance.
I sincerely hope that Iceland’s president does not sign the agreement and that
my comment as a global citizen is published and passed on to as many as possible.
Giving in to blackmail by other nations politicians has been done before with disastrous consequences. Iceland should not cave-in to this kind of state sanctioned terrorism.

Not exactly clear to me why those elected members of parliament did not vote. Is it because they did not know what the people in their district wanted? Is it because they had no personal feelings on the matter? Is it because they feel they deserve to receive a paycheck and then do nothing to earn it?
Not that either a positive or negative vote would have mattered, but elected officials should at least pretend to do their jobs. Apathy should not be condoned in members of parliament. Those that could not be bothered to vote need to resign their seats and let active members step in.
