Sir Tom Jones to perform in Iceland on 75th birthday

398px-Tom_Jones_concertWelsh music icon Sir Tom Jones is to perform in the Icelandic capital Reykjavik to mark his 75th birthday.

The legendary artist and star of reality TV show The Voice is to take to the stage at the Laugadalsholl Arena on 8 June, just a day after he celebrates his 75th birthday.

The Iceland gig is one of a number of European performances he will make in June; he will also be entertaining in Copenhagen on 6 June, Helsinki on 12 June and in Holland a day later. The news of his latest concert comes just a few weeks after he confirmed that he would headline the 25th Larmer Tree Festival in the summer.

Sir Tom preformed at Ynysangharad Park in his hometown of Pontypridd a decade ago to mark his 65th birthday, and it appears age is not denting his enthusiasm for the glamour lifestyle as he kicks off the five-day event that will also feature acts including the Levellers, Jimmy Cliff and Bellowhead.

Jones’s 75th birthday falls on the same year that he marked half a century in showbiz.
