Icelanders thank their island neighbour the Faroe Islands

the Faroe IslandsOver 20.000 Icelanders have signed their name on a special web page thanking the Faroe Islands for their support in the form of a 6 billion ISK loan.

On the web page it says that it is a venue for Icelanders to thank the Faroese for their generosity and willingness to help Iceland in these difficult times.

“Hopefully we can strengthen the good relationship between the nations through this site. The Faroe Islands are ready to help us (Iceland) even though they themselves are going through rough times,” reads the site.

Shops in Iceland have shown their gratitude by giving the Faroese special discounts when shopping and the Faroese Flag has been raised and put in peoples’ windows.
