Mogwai among bands to be added to ATP Iceland line-up

A number of renowned acts, including Mogwai, Davendra Banhart and Slowdive, have been added to this summer’s ATP Iceland line-up.

Other acts to be confirmed on the bill for Nick Cave’s favourite festival are Ben Frost, Shellac, Loop and Low. These artistes will join a number of top acts who had already agreed to play at the scenic Icelandic setting such as headliners Interpol, Portishead and Kurt Vile & The Violators.

Festival founder Barry Hogan said that they were “delighted” to reveal that some of their favourite bands would be making their debut in Iceland this year. He said that it was only the festival’s second year but ATP “royalty” such as Mogwai and Shellac and groups who have a strong influence like Low and Loop will all be there to celebrate the occasion. He added that the organisers loved Iceland and were looking forward to returning to the “unique setting” with such a “stellar line-up”.

A spokesman for the event said ATP Iceland was to expand into a week of events beginning in Reykjavik on 7 July with an ATP recordings showcase, an ATP store, film screenings, live concerts, art exhibitions and DJ sets in the run-up to the festival.

ATP Iceland will be staged at the former NATO base of Ásbrú in Keflavik between 10 July and 12 July. Portishead will headline the concert on 11 July followed by Interpol a day later.
