Norwegian to open sex shop in Arctic village

A Norwegian businessman is to open a sex shop in the country’s northern Arctic region close to the Russian border after discovering a gap in the market.

Forty-eight-year-old Bjorn Lund revealed that he learnt of the demand for sex products while managing a convenience store in the northeastern village of Sandnes. He said he is now almost finished converting a former fishing and hunting shop in the village, which lies in the Arctic Circle only a few miles from the border with Russia.

Lund explained that he realised there was a demand for adult goods around 10 years ago when he was in charge of a convenience store in the region. He said he started to sell these products and received customers from all over Norway. However, he soon realised that it was difficult to sell such goods in a shop that people buy food from.

He went on to say that as the community is small and word spreads quickly, he decided opening a separate store to sell the adult products could be a worthwhile venture. He revealed that he has already ordered lots of erotic items and shop signs will be arriving soon.

The businessman added that he also wants to attract customers from across the border by advertising in nearby Russian newspapers.
