Iceland-based song lyrics and guitar tabs website hits the U.S. market

The Iceland-based song lyrics and guitar tabs website GuitarParty.com opens for business for users in the U.S., and plans to expand the selection to include popular lyrics and tablature by American artists.

GuitarParty.com has since 2008 offered its users in Iceland access to premium selection of lyrics and tablature, and has now opened its doors to the U.S. public. GuitarParty’s unique offering is based on crowd sourcing lyrics from the online community, building a collection of songs needed by the users and thus saving them considerable time when sifting through larger collections of songs with various flaws and errors.

“We have been looking at the U.S. market for quite some time with the goal of opening up. Doing so this summer is very exciting and challenging at the same time. The competition is strong, but we believe our product offering is very competitive and will appeal to our target audience better than those of our competitors,” explained Kjartan Sverrisson, CEO of GuitarParty.com, when asked about his plans for the U.S. market.

Amongst new features planned for the site are guitar lessons for beginners and those looking to shape up their skills as guitar players. The videos are all recorded from three different angles, allowing the user to select the angle that suits at any given time without interrupting playback of the video. Video guitar lessons are expected to open up early 3rd quarter this year.

“We have been looking at the U.S. market for quite some time with the goal of opening up. “Lyrics are among the most searched for words on the Internet today and currently there are several good services that provide users with legal ways of obtaining lyrics for personal use. However, an offering of lyrics in combination with chords for guitar and ukulele can and needs to be improved upon and that is what we are going to do,” added Kjartan, further explaining the company’s plans for penetrating the U.S. market.
