Custody lengthened for Iceland bomb man

The man arrested in Iceland in February for bomb and weapons offences, which he bragged about on Facebook, will remain in police custody pending trial once again. This time until 2nd April, the court decided.

The Reykjanes District Court confirmed the police request to continue holding the man, as he is considered dangerous.

The police in south-western Iceland arrested the man after he had posted pictures on his Facebook account of a bomb and explosives. There were also photos of him handling a gun and blowing up a fish container.

The Viking Squad armed police were called out to help with the arrest and the man attacked them with a knife; but was overpowered without any injuries. A house search revealed a pipe bomb, a sheep gun, bomb making equipment and several bladed weapons, RÚV reported.
