Keflavik Airport (KEF), Iceland’s international airport, recently introduced a number of campaigns in order to build-up and strengthen customer relations. Since the implementation of these efforts, the Iceland airport has seen an increase of activity on its social media outlets, as well as receiving positive feedback from customers passing through the terminal and online.
Examples of the aforementioned campaigns include sweepstakes, online games, competitions, prizes, and most recently a travel raffle. Passengers passing through KEF were able to enter the raffle when making a purchase in one or more of the air terminal’s duty free stores, receiving a raffle number. Lars Boegebjerg, winner of the previous travel raffle, received a self-drive tour in Iceland for two.
Prior to the implementation of these campaigns, KEF was already well-known for its passenger satisfaction in regards to courtesy and helpfulness of staff, connecting flights, atmosphere and cleanliness – baggage delivery and terminal facilities have also been highly commended by passengers, with particular reference to the duty free shopping area.
The airport’s duty free area consists of eighteen stores, selling both well-known products and Icelandic designs. The products in the Keflavik Duty Free stores are very competitive in price to other European airports, and prices are up to 50 percent lower than in Reykjavík retail stores.
Furthermore, the Iceland airport boasts excellent arrival terminal facilities including a coffee shop, bank and grocery store that are all open to the public. There is also a tourist information centre, bus terminal, car rental, and an airport car park.
In addition, with transatlantic flights and connecting flights across Europe and North America, KEF has been referred to as the central hub for travel within the Atlantic. This title also contributed to the airport being appointed the Best Airport in Europe in 2009 by the Airport Council International (ACI).
