Fatal stabbing at biker meet-up

A biker in his forties has been stabbed to death after an altercation at a meet-up in southern Sweden, despite a large police presence. The man was punctured in the chest by an unknown object on Saturday when his group, sitting in a car at a campsite in Smaland, was set upon by several others. The man was rushed to a nearby hospital but died a few hours later.

Around 5,000 bikers were at the all-weekend meet up, along with a large number of police officers. Despite conducting interrogations throughout the night and a forensic examination of the scene, no suspects have so far been identified.

“Several people were involved in the attack on this man,” Bengt Netterstrom, duty officer with the Jonkoping County police, told the Aftonbladet newspaper.

“There were a lot of people affiliated with different motorcycle clubs attending, which was why we had a number of police officers there, even before the event,” officer Gunnar Rydholm added.
