Icesave voting faster than last time

Voter turnout in today’s Icesave referendum in Iceland is being described as good so far. In the two Reykjavik voting districts turnout by 14.00 was better than at the last Icesave referendum, but lower than at the 2009 Althingi general election.

At 14.00, 24 percent of registered voters in Reykjavik South had voted, 22 percent in Reykjavik North and as high as 30 percent in Northwest Iceland.

In Akureyri the 14.00 turnout stood at 25 percent, which is roughly the same as in the last general election.
