Icelandic fans of the 1980s are being advised to take the 12th June off, because Cindi Lauper has been booked to play Harpa, Reykjavik’s soon-to-open concert and conference centre.
Lauper intends to play a mix of her massive classic hits and some newer material. The artiste has sold over 30 million records during her career.
For those not quite sure who Cindi Lauper is: she is the singer of hits including Girls just Want to Have Fun, and True Colors.
Lauper is one of the 1980s’ biggest music stars and was pasted over teenage bedroom walls all around the globe.
RUV reports that the singer will take the stage, along with her band, at Harpa on the 12th June. Mixed in with her biggest hits, she also plans to sing songs from her newest album, Memphis Blues, which stayed in the Billboard blues chart for 14 weeks. If recent concert footage is anything to go by, Cindi Lauper has toned down her dress style somewhat; but there is little doubt that many in her Reykjavik audience will take to the back combing and hairspray in honour of her heyday.
