Joel Faerseth, who was born in November to Icelandic parents using an Indian surrogate mother, has now left India and is on his way to Iceland.
The family is currently in Germany awaiting a flight home.
According to RUV sources, the Icelandic couple were granted an emergency passport for their baby son late on Friday when it became clear that the Indian authorities would not protest the child being taken out of the country.
On Monday they received the green light from India which allowed them to leave after some three months waiting.
They flew to Frankfurt on Monday night and are expected in Iceland tomorrow.
