An Icelandic couple died in a car crash in Turkey yesterday in the city of Mugla, in the southwest of the country.
Their young child, who was also in the car, escaped almost unharmed according to information from the Icelandic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, RUV reports.
According to a journalist from the Turkish Ihlas news agency, the accident took place around midday, local time. It is thought the driver lost control of the car in the rain and swerved into the path of an oncoming lorry.
The occupants of the goods vehicle were taken to hospital, along with the Icelandic baby.
The family was in Turkey on holiday. It is not yet possible to reveal the couple’s names.
