Iceland’s Indian summer continues

The weather has been playing ball so far this month in Iceland and the forecasters say the calm, warm weather will continue. Meteorologist Haraldur Eiriksson says such warm and unsettled weather in October is unusual.

Yesterday’s highest temperature was a very comfortable 17 degrees centigrade in the Thingvellir national park in southwest Iceland – an unusual high for mid October, but not unheard of. Eiriksson explains that a high pressure area was sitting over Iceland all weekend bringing warm air from the southeast over the country. It was warm nearly all over Iceland this weekend.

The week’s forecast calls for southerly winds and mild temperatures but it is not yet possible to accurately forcast next weekend, RUV reports.
