Swedish model Nordegren divorces cheating Tiger Woods

Swedish model Elin Nordegren has divorced Tiger Woods, claiming their marriage was “irretrievably broken” following a string of scandals about the golfer’s infidelity. Nordegren, 30, and Woods, 34, issued a joint statement on Monday confirming that they had ended their six year nuptials.

“We are sad that our marriage is over and we wish each other the very best for the future,” the statement read. “While we are no longer married, we are the parents of two wonderful children and
their happiness has been, and will always be, of paramount importance to both of us.”
Woods fell from grace in November 2009 when a mysterious single vehicle car crash near his Orlando home ignited a huge sex scandal. More than a dozen allegations from women claiming to have had affairs with the golfer, including a Las Vegas club manager, a cocktail waitress and a porn star, forced Woods to publicly admit his “sex addiction”.

After a short break at a clinic in Mississippi, Woods made his much anticipated golf comeback at the US Masters earlier this year. Ending this year’s playoffs without a win, he will also enter this week’s US PGA Tour.

Nordegren filed for divorce in July after moving out of the family home in November. The couple have agreed to share the parenting of their children, despite media reports that the former model intends to return to live in Sweden.

International newspapers have valued the divorce settlement at anywhere between USD 100m and USD 500m.
