The recent Eyjafjallajokull eruption in South Iceland is proving a good long-term marketing tool for the country, despite its negative short-term effects, some businessmen are claiming.
The owner of Icelandic micro-brewery Olvisholt in South Iceland is one auch entrepreneur. He is happy because the company has just started export of its Lava brand of strong Icelandic stout to Sweden and Canada.
Jon Elias Gunnlaugsson says that the word ‘Iceland’ now arouses international interest like never before. The country has been all over the world press in recent months and years for various (mostly negative) reasons; but the brewery owner told RUV that the added attention seems to be arousing greater overseas interest in Icelandic beer. Any publicity is good publicity, it would seem.
