The first renewably powered international data centre in Iceland, called Thor Data Center, started operation yesterday. The company’s CEO hopes that the data centre will employ 30 people when the operation starts in earnest.
Thor Data Center has signed a contract with Norway’s Opera Software for data storage. Opera specialises in internet development and has over 110 million users worldwide.
Jon Viggo Gunnarsson, Thor’s CEO said that the new contract is incredibly important for the new data centre and others to come.
