Iceland parliament likely to pass Icesave bill

alþingiThe Icesave bill signed yesterday will, in all likelihood, be passed by Althingi. Four Left Green MPs have consistently refused to toe their party line; but at least two of them now appear willing to vote in favour.

One of the MPs, Gudfridur Lilja Gretarsdottir, has publicly supported the new bill. Former Minister for Health Ogmundur Jonasson has also indicated that he will vote in favour; but that he still has his reservations.

RUV reports that if they both support the bill but the other two rebels (Lilja Mosesdottir and Asmundur Einar Dadason) both vote against, the bill will still pass into law; provided other government party MPs do not change their minds.
