Swedish police forces fear an escalation of violence after a weekend which saw a spate of arson and unrest reports. At least eight vehicles were destroyed by arsonists on Friday evening in the Uppsala suburbs of Valsatra, Eriksberg and Gottsunda.
In Gottsunda one police car was showered with stones after being called to investigate reports of youth gangs on the rampage.
Later that night concerned residents of Valsatra and Eriksberg called in additional reports of car-torching; the latest incidents in a fortnight of violence in the area. Uppsala police spokesperson Christer Nordstrom said: “It started on August 28th when the police were called to Gottsunda to investigate a car fire, and were then met with stone-throwing youths. It has since gone in waves, escalated, and spread to other neighbourhoods,” The Local reports.
South of Stockholm, in Sodertaile, police suspect that arson was again involved in reports of at least seven cars being damaged. Elsewhere, on the west coast there were several locations of additional violence. In Gothenburg’s Bergjson area a tram was set ablaze but self-extinguished with no disruption to services. In the city’s north, arsonists attacked a local school as well as setting alight four cars and throwing stones at a city bus.
The suburb of Mammarkullen and town of Falkenberg were also witness to arson attacks.
The widespread violence has prompted Sweden’s emergency services to deal with a growing number of the public calling to express their dismay at the escalating unrest in their neighbourhoods.

thx for posting this. It makes my blood boil.
Europe provides these youths with decent housing, welfare money, access to good schools and health care and the possibility to express their opinions freely, all things which do not exist in their islamic countries of origin.
And how do they show their grattitude? Nothing but hatred, primitivism , brutality and antisemmitism.
What they are doing now in Sweden has been happening all over western Europe:it is just a test: a test to see how strongly the authorities will react to this.
If authorities are very weak, like in Sweden (the events around the daviscup match Sweden-Israel were also a demonstration of this) , this will go from bad to worse.
While in the Netherlands people have woken up and the success of Wilders has forced politicians to take measures against this development a country like Sweden still seems to be dominated by completely braindead, naive , multicultural politicians who fail to see the danger.
What measures does Sweden take? Home visits by social workers….right…that will help a lot! And all the concern for the fact that these criminals will be forced to pay for the damages they have caused…how touching…
Unfortunately the british gov also seems to be very weak and only tries to appease aggressive muslims: the deportation of Geert Wilders when he tried to visit that country is clearly demonstrating this.
I grew up in a town (Utrecht) which now also has multicultural ghettoes and it is a sad thing to see what has become of this fair city.
I do not agree however that the EU is the cause of this: it is the weakness and naivity of politicians.
I also would like to stress that in my experience most muslims are decent people who just want to live and work normally: however the failure of their own community and the local authorities to stop these criminal youths creates a climate of fear and hatred that is bad for everybody.
I know several muslims and they always stress that western authorities are much too weak: they should give harsh punishments to people who do this since this is the only way to stop them. Decent muslims will also benefit from this.
It is the same kind of “youths” that set blaze to France and Denmark a few years ago, immigrants from mainly middle eastern and african countries. All of these areas are ethnic ghettoes with almost no swedes still living there.

Sure I do, hence why I included “anarchists”. However, didn’t you notice the lengths that the article went to to not say who was responsible? Anarchists don’t usually get that sort of treatment.
I had a quick look elsewhere and, as with here, every article I read skirted around who was responsible. The comments were a different matter, but that’s hardly a reputable source.
