Rescuers are still searching for signs of an Air France jet which disappeared off the coast of Brazil yesterday. The flight was en route from Brazil to France and was carrying 228 people from all over the world.
Among the missing passengers are three Norwegians and one individual each from Denmark, Iceland and Sweden.
The whereabouts of the plane is still unknown, although search planes in the area have reported seeing unidentified debris in the sea.
According to an Air France spokesman, the plane almost certainly crashed and no survivors should be expected.
“Air France expresses its deepest sympathy to the relatives and friends of the passengers and crew who were on board this flight,” the airline said in a statement on its website.
I belive that It could be persone alive still, I belive this strongement.

There is a bus to all other parts of Iceland. In fact it even closer to main wonders then Reykjavik.
Also there are daily flights to Reykjavik – about an hour one way. So you could be back before lunch ;-)
Neils, thanks for the information. It is very interesting, a three days trip to Denmark. Unfortunately it leaves only from the eastern part of Iceland, which is unreachable by people who don’t have a car.
Smyril lines offers ferries between Denmark, the Faroer, Norway and iceland.

A former colleague of mine took such a ferry from Denmark to Iceland, with a stopover on the Fareoer included. In doing so he was able to bring his own car to Iceland where he drove around for nearly 4 weeks. He calculated that this was cheaper than renting a car in iceland for the same period of time (I am talking about summer 2008).
However, the north atlantic is not the most pleasant place to be on a boat. I am sure I would be totally sick all of the time.
There is a ferry.
But Icelanders know well that sea is hell more dangerous place than air.
Is there a ferry connecting Iceland to continental Europe? I think it is safer to leave this country by sea than by air…………..
