Unclear if BT electrical stores will reopen in Iceland

It remains unclear whether the BT chain of electrical stores will open its doors again. The company runs seven outlets in Iceland (which in Iceland is a lot for almost any sort of chain except supermarkets). All seven stores were closed on Friday and remain so now.

BT employs some 50 people, who, it is reported on Visir.is, did not receive their wages on the 1st November.

There was no comment from Ardegi, the investment company which owns and operates BT, on when and if the shops would reopen.

The website www.bt.is remains active and the stated original reason for the closure was stock taking, with the shops due to reopen today.
