TellMeTwin uses personality tests, self psychoanalysis and detailed comparisons of users’ likes and dislikes to put people in touch with members who think most like them and have similar interests and hobbies.
The website uses advanced algorithms to gather large amounts of user-generated material which is then linked to profiles to those of similar users, or ‘Twins’.
The more adventurous will be able to use the TellMeTwin personality test and twinning tools to find the best romantic matches, or even ‘evil twins’ – users who are the complete opposite.
The creators say that twins can provide information and advice on everything from book recommendations to new stamps, and give advice on major life decisions, or just what to cook for dinner.
The website is the idea of Icelandic business entrepreneur Einar Sigvaldason. “I founded TellMeTwin because I wanted movie and song recommendations from someone who I can trust to think like me”, said Sigvaldason. “I’ve also always loved self-psychoanalysis. I felt there was a need for an online application; not just personality tests but also a way to rate my likes, dislikes and life experience in order to map myself more deeply than before.”
