Iceland Express signs on for Bluebox products

Iceland ExpressIceland Express has become the latest customer of Bluebox Avionics Ltd, purchasing its portable IFE system.

The system allows customers to use USB headsets to access movies, television, audio programs and PC games.

Joint managing director for Bluebox Avionics, David Brown, said: “We are delighted to announce Iceland Express as our latest Bluebox customer. We are looking forward to delivering the first 50 units within the next few weeks and providing Iceland Express with the best quality portable IFE system on the market today.”

CEO of Iceland Express, Matthias Imsland, said: ‘We are very pleased to introduce the Bluebox IFE system on our expanding route network and are confident that the system will prove very popular with our customers.”

The programming for the system will be handled by Phantom Media, a media production company, under a separate contract. Bluebox is owned by Phantom.

Bluebox Avionics will be showcasing their system in September in Los Angeles at the Aircraft Interiors Expo.

Bluebox also recently announced its first contract selling its wireless controlled, semi-embedded AVOD system. The company’s first client is a VIP jet client based in the United States and will be used on a new Boeing BBJ.

Iceland Express is a budget Icelandic airline which flies to 15 destinations in Europe. The airline recently celebrated its fifth anniversary of business.
