Icelandic driver to race in New Zealand

The 18-year-old Icelandic race driver Kristjan Einar is one of the newest entries in round two of the Toyota Racing Series at Ruapuna, New Zealand.

Entering alongside Daniel Gaunt and Matt Halliday from New Zealand, Einar is set to compete for the Lady Wigram Trophy on January 4-6 2008. This race is the first of three international ones in the single-seater race category.

Barrie Thomlinson, manager of the Toyota Racing Series, said that many drivers from abroad consider this race to be an attractive opportunity, given that the Northern Hemisphere is normally off season at this time.

Thomlinson said the results of the Lady Wigram Trophy are up in the air now that even more contestants have entered the race.
