The Ajax playmaker has been amongst the most sought after players in Europe for the last couple of seasons due to his impressive performances for the Dutch side. He is the top target for Liverpool during the summer transfer window, but it appears as though the German side could have the upper hand.

Dortmund, who lost the Champions League final to rivals Bayern Munich last month, will be trying to replace their own young star, Mario Goetze, who has clinched a move to Munich, and Eriksen appears to be the man to fit that bill. Chelsea’s Kevin De Bruyne is also on Dortmund’s radar, although any move for the young Belgian is likely to be a loan one.

Liverpool are looking to secure a couple of transfers this summer as they attempt to break into the top 4 of the Premier League and return to Champions League action. However, with uncertainty over Uruguayan Luiz Suarez’s future, and Eriksen’s hint that he could be heading to the Bundesliga, the close season has not got off to the best of starts.

When quizzed about Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp, Eriksen said that he comes across as a great coach and a good person. He noted that it’s nice to have a charismatic coach who is not afraid to play young players, adding that he wants to play for someone he can trust and build a strong relationship with.

The Nuuk to Iqaluit service, which was only introduced last summer, went ahead on Monday, but not before heavy snowfall almost caused the flight to be cancelled. It eventually took off an hour late.

Dennis Brodka, first officer at Air Greenland, confirmed that Greenland’s weather office advised that the conditions did not look good. However, he explained that the weather later improved and, as it was the first flight of the season, they really wanted it to go ahead.

Initially, the flight had been scheduled for Friday, but due to low demand the airline decided to change the date. There were 15 passengers on the flight to Iqaluit, but none on the return flight to Nuuk.

The captain of the flight, William Cronin, said that they hope to have more passengers on the flights in the coming weeks. He explained that they are looking for fuller flights and, as the weather improves, so be able to achieve that.

The service is being offered by Air Greenland and the northern Canada airline, First Air. The majority of passengers on the flights tend to be business travellers. Meanwhile, Brodka wants the service to be year-round in order to connect people in Greenland and northern Canada.

During the summer months, wildlife flourishes in Iceland, bringing numerous birds and mammals. Iceland has only 73 breeding bird species, although the country is Europe’s second largest island. Luckily, most breeding species can be easily seen in all corners of Iceland. The largest quantity of bird species is the Atlantic Puffin, with roughly three million pairs, and 15,000 of those pairs just outside Reykjavík.

Additionally, the midnight sun, a natural phenomenon where the sun remains visible throughout the night, will also help travellers experience much more of Iceland during their holiday.

There are some notably amazing places in Iceland for photography enthusiasts to capture magical images. You can photograph geysers, waterfalls, volcanoes, and rock formations under the midnight sun across the whole of the country.

The best way to experience Iceland up close and personal is by renting a campervan.

Dozens of drivers, who claimed it was too warm in the summer months to wear long trousers while driving, had taking to wearing skirts in the last two weeks in protest against Arriva’s ruling that shorts wear not acceptable attire to wear to work.

Arriva initially said that the drivers, who work on the Roslagsbanan line north of the capital Stockholm, were welcome to don the skirts as long as they looked respectable. However, it has said that it has heard what the drivers have had to say and new work shorts will be available in the coming weeks.

Spokesman Tomas Hedenius said that they considered may of the drivers’ suggestions and opted to change their minds regarding the shorts. He explained that they’re now talking to the union about the best way to go about it, but that the shorts are likely to be available this summer. But he said any driver who wants to continue wearing the skirt can do so.

The drivers’ complaint was that during the summer months, temperatures in their cabins soar to 35C, so when the shorts ban was announced they decided to wear skirts, which is what their female colleagues do.

The Icelandic captain, who has just help his club side win promotion to the English Premier League, endured a nightmare evening in Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Slovenia in Reykjavík. He conceded a penalty before being carried off with his injury in what ended up a being a 4-2 victory for the visitors.

The 24-year-old left the pitch after a heavy fall in the early stages of the second half. He was replaced by former Chelsea and Barcelona star Eidur Gudjohnsen, who is now in the swansong of his career.

Current Iceland coach Lars Lagerbäck said that Gunnarsson, who lay on the pitched for several minutes before being transported to hospital, had suffered a serious shoulder injury before, and wished him a speedy recovery. He added that he the injury had a major influence on the result.

Lagerbäck said that in the early stages the team doctors were unsure to the extent of the injury. He explained that he felt the loss of his skipper had a huge impact on the game because the score was level at 2-2 prior to the incident. He said that after he went off, there was a change in the balance of the game.

Gunnarsson will have to wait and see how many weeks he is out of action for but generally a dislocated should takes up to 16 weeks to heal, meaning he would miss the start of the Premier League season in August.

Iceland has been dubbed as a premier location for algae biomass production at the recent European Algae Biomass Conference 2013 due to the country’s green renewable energy and logistic possibilities.

Representatives of Kadeco, an Iceland-based development company, exhibited the algae biomass production opportunities at the Ásbrú Enterprise Park in Iceland during ACI’s 3rd annual European Algae Biomass Conference 2013, which took place between 24th and 25th April 2013 in Vienna, Austria.

Algae production is a growing industry with huge future development potentials. Iceland’s green renewable energy, with its compatible rates, will offer the industry big advantages as a future micro algae production centre. Iceland can make long-term energy contracts offering a much-needed stability in production costs. This also results in stable grid connections and reliable delivery rates.

Ásbrú Enterprise Park, located on the Reykjanes Peninsula, has great logistic possibilities, as the facility is only a five-minute drive to and from Keflavík International Airport, as well as the country’s main international harbour.

Ásbrú has available industrial lots, as large as 80.000 square metres, with the possibility to develop buildings into facilities that are suitable for algae biomass production within a few months after leasing. The local facilities already built give manufactures possibilities to start production in smaller scale and gradually build up on a nearby lot.

Moreover, Keilir, an educational institution located at Ásbrú, offers two multidisciplinary B.Sc. programs in co-operation with the University of Iceland; green energy technology, and mechatronics – these institutions provide opportunities regarding future Labour.

To find out more about Kadeco and the facilities at Ásbrú, visit http://www.asbru.is/english/kadeco/.

The heavy metal band has only had a few concerts to date this year, and the festival is scheduled to be their only European performance this summer. However, it has yet to be announced the exact date Metallica will perform at Roskilde, which runs from 29 June to 7 July.

The band said in a statement that it’s been a decade since they’ve performed at this festival and that they’re looking forward to returning. The festival’s organisers said upon announcing the news that the band will take a break from the recording studio, where they are currently working on their 12th album, to headline Roskilde.

The organisers went on to say that the “Kings of Metal” had not planned to perform in Europe this year, but that they eventually managed to secure an agreement for the band to return to the festival it last graced 10 years ago, when their incredible performance brought traffic to a standstill outside the venue.

Other bands that have been confirmed for the festival include Queens of the Stone Age, Suicidal Tendencies, Airborne, Volbeat, Slipknot and Hatebreed.
