Meteorologists warn of February ‘deep freeze’ across Nordic states

Temperatures are likely to drop even further below normal next month throughout the Nordic region, according experts from Weather Services International (WSI). WSI officials said that a high-pressure pattern is to persist over the arctic through to February, continually pushing frigid, dry air southward over Scandinavia, as well as toward Russia, the Baltic states and Britain.

New figures have reaffirmed that residents of Nordic nations face the highest food prices in Europe. A new report by Eurostat and Statistics Sweden said that Norway and Denmark have the highest overall food prices in the region.

SAS stays afloat following fresh agreement with unions

Ailing Scandinavian airline SAS has new hopes for recovery after it reached a deal with labour unions early on Monday morning.  The carrier, which is partially owned by the governments of Sweden, Denmark and Norway, will reportedly utilise the agreement as backing for fresh financing.

Nordic nations to share warplanes

The five major Nordic nations have signed an agreement to share warplanes. State officials from Norway, Iceland, Sweden, Finland and Denmark said on Thursday (November 8) that an additional plan is also under consideration that would see the five nations share military-related costs, ground equipment and some operational tasks, including surveillance and tugboat operations.
