Althingi, Iceland’s national parliament, has voted in favour of a bill that would repay Britain and the Netherlands for money lost when Landsbanki collapsed along with its high interest Icesave accounts in the two countries.

A clause in the new Icesave deal between Iceland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom states that Iceland must approve the contract and make it legally binding before the New Year, or risk the other two countries backing out.

Details of some of the main articles in the newest draft deal in the Icesave dispute between Iceland, the Netherlands and the UK are now coming to light. The burden on the Icelandic state will be anywhere from ISK 0-50 billion (USD 0 – 435.2 million).
