Icelandic president to come to Maine

Iceland’s president Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson plans to visit Maine, the northeastern-most state of the United States, next May to express his support for Eimskip. The Icelandic shipping company has chosen Portland, Maine’s most populous city, as its trans-Atlantic container service hub for North America.

Iceland’s president vilifies former British PM Gordon Brown over Icesave crisis

The presidential election in Iceland – Final numbers

Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson will be staying as the president of Iceland for the next four years. Mr. Grímsson got 52.78% of the overall votes and his main competition Þóra Arnórsdóttir got 33.16%. Other running for the Presidency got: Ari Trausti Guðmundsson 8,64% Herdís Þorgeirsdóttir 2,63% Andrea Ólafsdóttir 1,8% Hannes Bjarnason 0,98% Voter turnout: 69.2 percentage.
