The European Parliament yesterday ratified a committee report from February on Iceland’s EU accession talks. The report and parliamentary debate were generally positive on Iceland; although there is concern about the discussion surrounding the EU in the country.

A spokesman for the Dutch Ministry of Finances said earlier today that Dutch authorities will grant Iceland up to 1.3bn euro, MBL reported. The condition for the loan is that the money is used for paying IceSave depositors.

The press conference held by the IMF delegation in Iceland this afternoon stressed the point that presently data is being gathered to evaluate the situation. The Icelandic government also has to decide whether the conditions of the IMF are acceptable.
