Icelanders not avoiding London because of riots

Iceland, like many other countries, is watching the rioting in London and elsewhere in England closely; with the same sort of  incredulity as most British people are. So far, however, the situation has not stopped Icelanders travelling to the UK.

Assange fights Swedish extradition

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has asked the UK High Court to block an extradition order to Sweden where he faces questioning on sexual assault allegations. His lawyer, Ban Emmerson, claims the arrest warrant is flawed as Assange has suffered a “mismatch” of Swedish and English law on what constitutes a sex crime.

London banking suspects released on bail

The seven people arrested in London yesterday in the Serious Fraud Office investigation into the collapse of Iceland’s Kaupthing Bank, have all been released on bail.

London arrests made in Icelandic banking case

Sigurdur Einarsson, former chairman of Kaupthing Bank, and Robert Tchenguiz, who was the now-defunct bank’s biggest customer, were both arrested this morning in London in a joint operation by the Serious Fraud Office and Iceland’s Special Prosecutor into the banking crash.

Agust Gudmundsson, commonly associated with the companies Bakkavor and Exista, has reached a settlement, along with his wife, with creditors over a lawsuit brought against them at the High Court in London.
