Einar Már Guðmundsson has been awarded the Nordic Literature Prize from the Swedish Academy this year for his contribution to the region’s literature and becomes the third Icelander to receive the recognition.

Saga sales surge ahead of Frankfurt Book Fair

The first run of a brand new German translation of the Icelandic sagas has sold out at lightning speed. The translation of the sagas into German is a cornerstone of Iceland’s guest-of-honour status at the upcoming Frankfurt Book Fair, which begins in the middle of October.

Fully 180 different Icelandic books and books about Iceland are being published in German this year. The German book market caters to 100 million people.
