Europol, the pan-European police network, has started an investigation into failed Icelandic bank, Kaupthing and financial crimes police in the UK are also still working on their own investigation into the bank.

Former director of Kaupthing Bank, Hreidar Mar Sigurdsson, has sent a letter to the Icelandic Prime Minister complaining about the Icelandic Financial Supervisory Authority.

Sigurdur Einarsson, the former head of the board at Iceland’s Kaupthing Bank, is today being interviewed by the Special Prosecutor into the banking crisis. He is at the prosecutor’s Reykjavik office along with his lawyer, Gestur Jonsson.

Sigurdur Einarsson, the former chairman of the board at Old Kaupthing has put in a claim for lost wages to the bank’s resolution committee amounting to ISK 244 million (USD 1.9 million). No claim has been received from former bank president Hreidar Mar Sugurdsson, however.
