European regulators: Iceland violated EU rules for Icesave clients

European regulatory officials have said that Iceland violated EU regulations amid its 2008 banking collapse. The European Free Trade Association’s Surveillance Authority said in a Luxembourg courtroom that Iceland did not follow protocol

Old Landsbanki to sue PriceWaterhouseCoopers for ‘deliberate’ auditing errors

The resolution committee of the failed Icelandic bank Old Landsbanki has subpoenaed the international auditing firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers, accusing the company of creating wrong annual accounts which misled the markets. The committee’s damages claim runs to hundreds of millions of krónur.

Össur handed Icesave in spite of opposition ire

EFTA to take Iceland to court over Icesave

ESA, the EFTA (European Free Trade Association) surveillance authority, has decided to take the Icelandic state to the EFTA court over its handling of the Icesave case. By discriminating against foreign depositors and not reimbursing the British and Dutch governments within one year, it is claimed Iceland broke European law.

UK and NL receive first Icesave refunds, ESA still not sure about legal action

The estate of Iceland’s bankrupt Landsbanki bank this week paid the British and Dutch governments one third of the money they claim for having bailed out Landsbanki’s Icesave customers in the two countries. Icelandic opposition leader holds meeting with UK PM
