The Iceland Airwaves music festival began yesterday afternoon in Reykjavik, where more than 220 bands are set to perform at various venues around town until Sunday night.

Iceland Airwaves is proud to announce that Sigur Rós is returning to the festival. It’s been 11 years since Sigur Rós last performed at Iceland Airwaves, after coming to international prominence with their second album ‘Ágætis Byrjun’.

Bjork, Iceland’s much loved songstress, will be making a special appearance with her Biophilia live show twice at this year’s Iceland Airwaves music festival (taking place 12th – 16th October), alongside another four intimate shows at the newly opened concert hall Harpa, located in downtown Reykjavik.

Icelandic indie/folk band, Mukkaló is opening for Bombay Bicycle Club this evening at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. Mukkaló was invited to open for Bombay Bicycle Club after meeting the lead vocalist Jack Steadman at the recent Iceland Airwaves music festival in Reykjavik.
