Two of the biggest charges against former Icelandic Prime Minister, Geir H. Haarde, were this week dropped. Haarde said the two charges were by far the most serious the Landsdomur high court was to judge him on and that he looks forward to proving his innocence on the others.

Geir H. Haarde, head of Iceland’s Independence Party and former Prime Minister marked his last appearance in parliament on Wednesday. Haarde said that he will give up his party position on Sunday and would not be attending the final parliamentary sessions this week due to medical appointments abroad.

Geir H. Haarde, the former Icelandic Prime Minister, was in a BBC HARDtalk interview last night. He was questioned especially about the blame of the financial collapse last October, communication between him and the British PM Gordon Brown and private talks with the governor of the Central Bank of Iceland, David Oddsson.
