Cairn to keep Greenland and look elsewhere

Pearl purchase offers published on internet

As previously reported, one of Reykjavík’s best-known landmarks, Perlan (The Pearl), is for sale as part of the restructuring of its indebted owner, Reykjavík Energy. Now all purchase offers received have been published online.

Ocean turbine designer: “Iceland could up its energy production twentyfold”

Valdimar Össurarson runs a company called Valorka, which has designed a marine electric turbine by the same name. The generator won first prize at the International Inventors’ Awards 2011. The company hopes its turbine will create a steady and reliable supply of electricity.

Cairn comes up empty-handed again

Cairn Energy has yet again failed to find oil or gas at its wells in Greenland. The Scottish exploration company’s shares fell one percent on the announcement that another two dry wells are to be plugged and abandoned.

Icelandic state buys land and energy rights in municipal tax debt swap deal

Iceland has doubled energy production

Iceland is producing twice the amount of electricity today as it was at the time of the millennium celebreations, just eleven years ago. The country could well go on to double present-day energy generation as well.
