Icelandic musician Mugison, full name Örn Elías Guðmundsson, has been named Westfjordian of the Year 2011 by people in his native Westfjords region. In 2011 he released one of Iceland's best ever selling albums and gave a string of free concerts. He is also widely known for being a nice guy.

People love a freebie -- especially when it is a concert by one of Iceland's biggest contemporary music stars. After "selling out" of free tickets to his concert at the 1,600-seat Eldborg concert hall at Reykjavík's Harpa concert and conference centre, Mugison added two other free concerts, which also "sold out" in record time. Now the artist has announced five more free concerts elsewhere in Iceland before Christmas.
