Norway’s national football coach quits


footballAfter five unproductive years in charge of Norway’s national football team, coach Aage Hareide has decided to call it quits, saying he’s exhausted and hasn’t achieved any notable results on the world arena. Mixed results in World Cup qualifiers for Nordic football nations


football1Finland and Denmark emerged with victories after this week’s World Cup qualifiers for 2010, while Sweden and Norway could only manage draws. The 1-0 Finnish victory over Azerbaijan was a big relief as it lifted Finland off the bottom of their group and keeps their qualification dreams alive. Mikael Forssell scored the decisive goal on a penalty kick in the 62nd minute.

Iceland loses to Scotland 1 – 2


Scotland beats Iceland 2-1Iceland lost to Scotland in a even match where Scotland got to 0 - 2 and Iceland scored from a penalty 1- 2 and got few good chances to even the score in the last minutes of the game. Iceland has never qualified for a major international tournament in their football history and it seams that it will not be the case for this world cup either.

Scotland held on for a needed win to continue their 100% record against Iceland.
