A young man went to the central police station in Reykjavik at the weekend and informed officers of a crime he had been a victim of. He said he had met two foreign men who offered to sell him ecstasy pills. However, when he gave the men ISK 10,000 they ran away with his cash. Read the full story

Last night (Sunday) a thief who was partying and possibly drunk broke into an apartment in Akureyri and stole a DVD player and computer printer. The apartment’s residents were not home at the time of the break in. The neighbours spotted the thief leaving the premises and immediately called the police reporting the theft. The theif is now in custody of the police.

A 21-year old crewmember of the Danish Navy patrol ship, Hvidbjornen broke into a bank in central Reykjavik earlier this week. His ship was in port on a visit to the Icelandic capital.
The man was arrested in an agitated state after breaking into a closed branch of Kaupthing and stealing a small amount of Icelandic money, only in 100 and 10 kronur coins. Read the full story
