The Icelandic American Chamber of Commerce will hold a conference this Tuesday in New York entitled ‘The Icelandic Economy and Outlook’.
This year’s keynote speaker will be Gylfi Magnusson, Icelandic Minister for Business Affairs. He will be joined in the same session by Mark Flanagan, the head of the IMF mission to Iceland. Read the full story

On the resignation of Bjorgvin Sigurdsson, Prime Minister Haarde said that he felt it was an undeserved act. Sigurdsson had done a tremendous job and been a trusted and good [political] partner. Haarde said that he respected Sigurdsson’s decision, which had been taken to relieve certain tensions that had formed around his Ministry and institutions. Read the full story

Bjorgvin G. Sigurdsson, Iceland’s Minister of Commerce has resigned from his post. At the same time he announced that the director of the Icelandic Financial Supervisory Authority, Jonas Fr. Jonsson and the board of the institution are stepping down also. Sigurdsson stated that with this he is shouldering his share of the responsibility for the financial crisis. He also acknowledged that others bear responsibility as well.
