Assange fights Swedish extradition


Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has asked the UK High Court to block an extradition order to Sweden where he faces questioning on sexual assault allegations. His lawyer, Ban Emmerson, claims the arrest warrant is flawed as Assange has suffered a “mismatch” of Swedish and English law on what constitutes a sex crime. Read the full story

London arrests made in Icelandic banking case


Sigurdur Einarsson, former chairman of Kaupthing Bank, and Robert Tchenguiz, who was the now-defunct bank’s biggest customer, were both arrested this morning in London in a joint operation by the Serious Fraud Office and Iceland’s Special Prosecutor into the banking crash. Read the full story

Icelandic ‘innocents abroad’ sentenced in London
