Sportacus attends Iceland Express 5 year anniversary


iex-tail-85×2.jpgSportacus, the star of Lazy Town Live, flew into London Stansted yesterday for a special birthday celebration for Iceland’s low-cost airline.

Much to the excitement of local children, the high-energy TV superhero performed a gymnastic routine at the Iceland Express check-in area. Sportacus is the main star of Lazy Town Live, the stage show production of the multi-award winning children’s TV programme which is filmed in Iceland.

Iceland Express celebrated five years of business this week, marking the moment in 2003 when it began operating flights between London Stansted and Reykjavik, Iceland.

The low-cost airline initially started with only two routes, to London Stansted and Copenhagen, but grew rapidly to cover 14 European destinations. Iceland Expree will also add direct flights between Reykjavik and Warsaw in 2008 as well as between Akureyri and Egilsstadir in Iceland to Copenhagen in Denmark.

“Iceland is in the world’s top 10 of ‘must see’ destinations and with Iceland Express set to add more flights onto their schedule from here, offering some of the lowest fares on the market and 50% discounts for children, this direct link to Reykjavik is set to continue being extremely popular for both our business and leisure passengers,” said Nick Barton, business development director at Stansted Airport.

Iceland Express operates 11 flights to Iceland each week between London Stansted and Reykjavik. The airline is currently offering 5,000 seats at ?53 including taxes, an offer which ends at 5pm on 28th February.

Sportacus flies into London Stansted


Iceland Express.jpgA lucky group of local children will get a chance to see the main star of LazyTown Live at Stansted Airport tomorrow evening as Icelandic budget airline Iceland Express marks its fifth year in business.

Iceland Express, which operates low-cost flights to Reykjavik, Iceland from London Stansted, is inviting the LazyTown superhero Sportacus to perform for 15 children who are also celebrating their birthdays this week.

Sportacus is scheduled to give a gymnastic routine for the children at the check-in area of the airport on Wednesday evening.
