Botched bomber found guilty


A man who attempted to send a letter bomb to a Danish newspaper which printed controversial cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed has been found guilty on terrorism charges. Lors Doukaev, 25, a Belgian citizen of Chechnyan origin, was found guilty on Monday and yesterday sentenced to 12 years in prison. Read the full story

House purchased for private Reykjavik mosque


Wealthy foreigners have bought a house in Reykjavik and intend to turn it into a mosque. The chairman of the Icelandic Muslim Association says he has nothing to do with the investors and has reported the men to the police, saying he fears they may be extremists trying to gain a foothold in Iceland. Terror level raised in Sweden


The terror alert level in Sweden has been raised to “elevated” after rumours of Mumbai-style terror raids across Europe. Denmark bomber finally confirms name

Finnish gym bans locker room prayers


Finland’s Minority Ombudsman is to investigate whether a gym is guilty of discrimination after it banned Muslims from praying in its locker room. Eva Biudet says she will speak to management at the Lady Fitness Centre in Helsinki’s Espoon Keskus district to find out why they put up a notice asking for customers to keep the gym worship-free. TV4 bans Sweden Democrats’ burka chase ad


The Sweden Democrats have submitted their controversial election film for review by a top legal official after broadcaster TV4 refused to air the advert.
